excerpt from Vancouver (BC) Sun, Jan 28 '97 AUTHOR: So, what do you like to do in your spare time? I mean, what do 18-year-olds do these days anyways? TATYANA: [laughing] Well, I'm not exactly your average 18-year-old girl... but I like to go shopping, swim, hang with friends, go to parties, you know, that kind of stuff. AUTHOR: You party a lot? TATYANA: Oh yeah! [laughs] No, I wish I had the time... Usually I'm just hang'n with my friends, especially Maia (Campbell). AUTHOR: Didn't you and Maia just do a TV episode together? TATYANA: Yeah, we did an episode of "In the House" not long ago. It was fun, but a little stressful. AUTHOR: Stressful? TATYANA: Yeah, we had to do stuff over and over again, you know... but me and Maia found ways to pass the time between shoots. AUTHOR: What did you do? TATYANA: Well, we'd just go back stage, talk, and smoke a few cigarettes. AUTHOR: You smoke? Aren't you a little young to be smoking? TATYANA: I'm eighteen. That IS the legal age isn't it? AUTHOR: Well, I guess it is. TATYANA: Actually Maia's only seventeen... AUTHOR: When did you start smoking? TATYANA: I think it was about a year ago, on the set of "Fresh Prince". I found a pack of Marlboros on a table. I was curious, so I tried one. AUTHOR: And you've been smoking ever since? TATYANA: Yeah, its a good stress reliever, and I like the taste. I should probably try to quit, though... I mean I'm up to a pack-a-day.
