| Out of the Past (1947) | aka Build My Gallows High. Jane Greer, Rhonda Fleming "Greer smokes unfiltered in two scenes - Fleming in one other. Both do dynamite exhales... Note: this film is in black & white, but a colorized version is out by Ted Turner... the color is better for the smoking sequences." "Greer lights, inhales, and partially exhales, retaining some of her smoke so it hangs on her breath as she speaks (why do so few women do this these days?). In other scenes she wears long gloves while smoking, exhales partly through her nose, accepts a lit cigarette in the street, and holds her cigarette between her lips as she fetches and prepares a drink from the fridge. Fleming takes a single drag as she lights and clearly inhales. Non-filters throughout add to the effect."
