| Flamingo Road (1949) | Joan Crawford, Gladys George "Four or five scenes - two good closeups" "Joan smokes in six scenes. She does not inhale direct from her lighting, but from an immediate follow-up drag. In a beautiful early scene, she lights up, takes that vital follow-up drag, and exhales a perfect plume of smoke that stands out starkly against the dark background. There is a close-up lighting a little later. Towards the end, she removes a flake of tobacco from her tongue after exhaling. Gladys George smokes in two scenes, but does not appear to inhale."
