"Even though Wood has an awkward-looking way of holding and dragging, she either inhales or does an unusually good imitation. In an early scene on a bridge, for example, she has a reasonable thick exhale which, although it's a bit rushed, looks inhaled to me. The issue is perhaps clouded, so to speak, by the fact that she has just taught a young boy how to smoke without inhaling, but that was specifically in order to spit better.
