| • | cigar - "Seeing Cybill Shepherd puff on a big stogie has made the CBS party the top event so far of the Television Critics Association's annual fall preview tour. Camp Critic is filled with parties as Fox, NBC, CBS and ABC try to top each other. It may sound like fun, but these are working events at which your devoted couch potato scribe searches for truth among the celebrity guests. 'I love cigars,' the star of 'Cybill' said Monday night as she lighted a hand-rolled monster. 'I was smoking them long before it became fashionable out here,' she continued. Cigars are in vogue in Hollywood. And CBS offered samples at the party in honor of Bill Cosby, a cigar lover who has a new sitcom on CBS this fall. Shepherd was the only female star to light up. 'I can smoke with the boys,' she said. 'I've paid my dues and I think women should be able to do anything that men can do ... and do it better'. She recounted how the late Orson Welles, a frequent house guest of her former lover Peter Bogdanovich, taught her to smoke. 'He liked Monte Cristos,' she added as her cigar burned", Tampa Tribune, Jul. 24, '96 |

| • | cigar - "'Yes, it's me,' laughed Cybill Shepherd, in the dark of the night at a CBS press party at the fancy Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Pasadena. Fireflies flew by the lanterns as five separate cookouts blazed away. But Shepherd was off to one corner smoking a cigar. 'Orson Welles taught me how to savor a truly good cigar,' Shepherd said as she watched the cigar maker rolling fresh ones. 'It's all in the smell, the texture, making every puff count'", Toronto Star, Aug. 26, '96 |
