Anti-smoking lobbyists have branded the advertising surrounding the brand - Elle Slims - as 'deplorable and revolting' because it encourages young women to take up smoking. Full-page, color advertisements for Elle Slims have appeared in national women's magazines with the words 'Slim but not skinny. Mild but never meek'. In Western Australia, one of the Elle Slims advertisements appeared next to an article about Ms. MacPherson. Her manager Stuart Cameron, of Chadwick Model Agency in Sydney, said she had had nothing to do with the advertisements or the cigarette brand. He said it 'was very coincidental' that in one magazine the cigarette advertisement appeared next to an article on Ms. MacPherson.
